~ An #EggscerptExchange With Kimbra Kasch ~ From THE CATS OF CULLABY CREEK ~

Here's another great eggcerpt...but first, let's find out what the book is about--

Blurb ~

When Savannah meets Kyle, its love at first sight. And why wouldn't it be? He's perfect, as far as she can tell. But Kyle appears whenever things go wrong. Maybe he isn't everything she thought he was. It's a complete mystery until she discovers the water in Cullaby Creek is being bottled and sold as vitamin “infused” water. Mistic Water promises the impossible. And then, like a magical elixir, it delivers. People who drink it feel younger, smarter, faster...healthier. But it doesn’t take long before side effects hit. Literally. The secret has to be in the water…or is it something more?

Eggcerpt ~

Kelly and Kyle

These two shared some sort of history. And now I was in the middle of their story.

Sparks flew through the air. But, they didn’t seem to notice—or maybe they just didn’t care how uncomfortable they were making the rest of us.

I scanned the room. The terribly odd thing was that while they stood in the center of the cafeteria—arguing—everyone’s eyes were on me.

What is so interesting about me?

After a few seconds, I heard whispered accusations slammed back and forth, like a ping-pong ball. My name, muttered in odd and angry tones. No one seemed to mind staring at me, but only the bravest few were sneaking sideways glances over at Kelly and Kyle, hoping no one noticed.

This wasn’t what I needed on my first day at a new school. I hadn’t come here looking for instant enemies, but I knew I’d accidentally stirred a private pot and things were already starting to boil.

I needed to do something and quick. From the sounds floating around me, if they got into an actual argument, I was going to get the blame.

I spit out the first words I could think to say, “What’s a new kid to do, after school, around here… for fun?”

Kyle sighed and chuckled, “That depends on what you’re hoping to find and what you think is fun.” He stepped back away from Kelly for a moment. “You big city kids always think something needs to be going on. But in real life, in a small town, not much ever happens.”

“We could ask my Mom to drive us into Astoria to do some shopping,” I suggested. It was a little too obvious—even to me—Kelly wanted me out of the picture and was trying everything she could think of to keep me away from Kyle. I almost felt sorry for her—but only for a second.

“Or,” Kyle sat down and nodded for me to join him. I could feel a warm rush of air and his scent worked its way up inside my head. I barely heard him finish, “We could go for a run.”

“What?” Kelly demanded, clenching her hands into tight-balled fists at her side.

“Savannah,” Kyle lowered his voice and said my name slow, putting an emphasis on the last syllable, like it was a soft sigh, ‘ah’. And, for the first time in my life, I loved the sound of my own name. “Is a runner. And she’s fast. Aren’t ‘cha?” He nudged me and moved even closer. I could barely think. His smell overpowered my senses; it was the sweet woodsy scent of him that took me by surprise. I closed my eyes and drank it in.

When I opened them back up, Kelly’s eyes were shooting red flames of rage straight at me.

I gazed at Kyle and felt a warmth in my stomach again. It was working its way up into my chest. “That’s not what you said this morning,” I laughed then spun away.

Author Bio ~

I'm a writer who grew up in a family with 9 kids and only 1 t.v. so I spent my days reading and, later, writing. I love books. . .maybe because I never got to pick t.v. shows we watched. But I’d run home after school to catch the last fifteen minutes of Dark Shadows...

I still love to run...and read. My favorite romance novels are The Hunger Games...okay, I know, it's a survival book but it's really all about romance. Then there were the series: Twilight, Fifty Shades, and more but I also love paranormal, Horror and even light books like Dewey the Small Town Library Cat... Mainly, I just love to read. . . and write.

~ Everyone Wants To Be DEMON KISSED, So Pucker Up! ~

So happy to be able to introduce to my friend, author Karilyn Bentley with her newest release, DEMON KISSED. Isn't this a great cover, by the by? The sexy little pose of the demon huntress, the colors, the way the series name does that ombre kind of fade out thing... But before we get to the book, let's find out a little more about Karilyn...

When did your love for writing start?

Probably about the same time I learned to spell. I used to come up with stories that were a lot like Nancy Drew (who was my favorite heroine as a kid). I always wrote stories in my head but never thought of writing as a career until after I was married.

I wrote stories as a kid, too. I wonder how many other authors started with hole-punched, yarn bound books. How do you balance the demands of your everyday life and your writing life?

Oh, you're supposed to balance them?? Seriously, I have no idea. Which is probably why I'm the slowest writer ever.

I hear you! I have no physical balance (always falling over in Tai Chi class) and can't balance my responsibilities, either. Do you have a job outside of writing? What is it and how does it mesh with your writing?

I work in a busy oncology clinic as a clinical researcher. That means I help run clinical trials. What it really means is that I'm a glorified paper pusher. It's a good job and I enjoy it. Not sure it meshes with my writing.

Do you have hobbies that you’d like to share?

I used to paint but haven't since my grandmother died. One of these days I'll pick my brushes up again.

I hope you do. I'm sure you have a lot to offer! Share with us a little about your family. Married? Kids? Pets?

Married, no kids, one dog, aka The Kraken. We used to have two dogs at a time for most of our married life, but they all passed on and are waiting for us at the Rainbow Bridge. We haven't decided if we are going to get another one to keep The Kraken company. Maybe in the future?

The Kraken? I'm not sure I'd like to meet this Kraken in a dark alley. ;) Now, just for fun-

If you could be any animal, what animal would you choose, and why?

A fly. Imagine all the juicy conversations you could overhear by lurking on the wall.

I believe that is the first time I've ever gotten that answer, but it's a good one! When trick-or-treating as a kid, was there any kind of candy that you didn’t like to get?

I was allergic to chocolate as a kid. Awful, right? And I was always sick around Halloween so Mom would dress me and my brother up, sit us on the couch, and have our friends come over. I'd get all their "yucky" candy (aka, the non-chocolate treats) and they'd get some chocolate bars. It worked out great for all.

I'm not sure if being allergic to chocolate would be a curse or a blessing... What one thing (modern convenience) could you not live without?

Electricity! That pretty much sums it up.

It is a pretty dandy invention, isn't it? Comes in handy! Well, thanks for sharing a little bit about yourself with us. How 'bout we hear a little more about DEMON KISSED...

Blurb ~

Gin Crawford, the world's latest demon huntress, has no time to mourn her dead lover as she's called in to determine why a demon attack occurred at the local medical school. And not just any demon, but the one demon that gives her demon-killing bracelet the shivers. A dead professor, a lab full of missing anthrax, and a demon who turns good people into minions complicate her life. Can Gin and her mentor Aidan Smythe solve the mystery of the missing anthrax and the identity of the demon before someone else dies?

Excerpt ~

The scent of sulfur hangs in the air like a demonic stink bomb. I want to slap a hand over my nose, but no one else seems affected by the stench. Must be a demon huntress thing.

“Justitian,” Smythe mutters. “Not demon huntress.”

“If you don’t like my new title, then stay out of my mind.”

He glares. I swallow. Cross my arms. Refuse to take a step back. I’m learning not to be intimidated by his anger. Go me.

My justitia vibrates, throwing me out of my internal battle, pulling me back to the land of death and minions. The blob of colors pulsates, a glowing reminder of a moment of terror. The moment the demon appeared to the grad student.

Granted, I’m still taking Demons 101, but I thought demons formed minions in private. Usually after the human committed a crime, not before. A tryout, so to speak. And maybe that happened, but it sure seems to me like the black blob of demon force appeared to the grad student smack in the middle of the hallway.

Or maybe that always happens, and I just now noticed it.

The justitia’s vibration grows stronger, trembling my arm, my veins. Not its normal excited tremor upon seeing a minion or demon. A rush of images spikes through my mind, scenes of terror coupled with blood and death, memories of the justitia’s former wearers captured in time by the entity in the bracelet.

I’m not the only one freaked out by the colored blob. How bad was this demon to scare a justitia?

~ Another Eggcellent #EggcerptExchange from THE PREMIER ~ by Janie Franz ~

Today I am eggcited to welcome Janie Franz with another eggceptional #EggcerptExchange! But before we get into that, let's find out a little more about THE PREMIER...

Blurb ~

South Dakota novelist Jackie Sue Davyss-Brennan is alone in Hollywood for the premier of the movie made from her book, Mayan Heart. In her contract for the book rights, she specified that the role of her main character be played by David Salizon, a handsome, well-known actor. When Jackie and David, both married to other people, are thrown together at media events for the promotion of the film, they soon find they are attracted to each other, and temptation, ever present in Hollywood, becomes something neither can’t deny.

Excerpt ~

The door opened. A tanned dark-haired man, slight of build entered.

Susan recalled the lines from her book. “…the stranger’s black hair that was beginning to grey at his temples caught her eye. It was an odd quality in someone his age with his obvious Spanish lineage and apparent refinement. She scanned his features, taking in his sensitive mouth and a nose hinting at an Aztec-like hawkishness…. His dark eyes concentrated intently for a few seconds on her and then retreated into his thoughts as if he could only focus on the world around him in brief glimpses…”

My God! Susan thought, if he looks at me like that, I’ll…I’ll…She took a deep breath. I’ll smile and shake his hand, she bolstered herself.

He was more than a handsome man and successful film star, more than a romantic leading man. He emanated an aura of confidence and aloofness, both irresistible qualities. Though he wore a casual, tan bush shirt and snug, European fit slacks, he still looked elegant, crisp and neat as if he could repair his car and not smell of gasoline.

Author Bio ~

Interview ~

Favorite type of pet:

I can’t have a pet where I live. However, if I could in this wee casita, I’d have a cat. There’s always room for a cat. (I do a lot of petsitting/housesitting for friends so I get to enjoy their animals, including some broody chickens.

Most important goal:

I’m exploring more about more public speaking, workshops, Sci-Fi/Fantasy Writers Conventions, etc. I think that’s the next step in this career.

Worst fear or nightmare:

Buckling myself in a seat on a plane, ready to leave the country, and realizing I’d forgotten my glasses or my meds or something vital that I couldn’t get in another country. (I tend to walk out of the house with my computer glasses on and start driving down the road and wondering why the distant places are so fuzzy.

Secret desire or fantasy:

It’s not so secret. I want to travel to all of the places I’ve only read about: Hawaii, Fiji, the UK, Australia, Greece, Egypt, India, and South America.

What would you do if you won the lottery?

I would buy a bigger casita, a house actually, so my family and friends could come visit me and it would feel like a vacation. I’d pay bills. But not much else would change, though I might travel more.

Thank you for joining us, Janie! It's been great having you!

One kiss can change your life...

Allison Hall is fed up with being a social outcast. Even at the tech company where she works for her brother and his best friend, Jared, she's the invisible nerdy girl. What she needs is confidence—and that requires a makeover and dating tips. And she knows just the man to help…

Jared Esterly is shocked when Allison asks for his assistance and turns her down, knowing that her brother—his business partner and best friend, Nick—would kill him if he dated her, even if it is just for practice. But when Al’s attempt to make changes on her own fails spectacularly, Jared reluctantly steps in. Things heat up quickly, and soon lessons move from the salon to the bedroom.

When overprotective big-brother Nick discovers Jared is dating Allison, their friendship and business partnership sour. Allison, consumed by guilt, must make a choice: stay with Jared, even though that means ruining his friendship with Nick and possibly his career, or leave the one man who sets her on fire.

“Witty, fun, and sizzling- Christine Warner never disappoints!” – Nikki Lynn Barrett, USA Today bestselling author

Excerpt ~

She leaned her forehead against his chin, then tilted her head back, parting her lips and inviting him in for another kiss.

And he wanted seconds. More than he’d ever imagined. The soft blush creeping over her face, the way her breasts strained against her blouse as she tried to regain her breathing only encouraged him. Holy. Fuck. With her it’d be too easy to forget where the hell they were. And he didn’t like an audience. Not now. With Allison, not ever.

But that didn’t stop him from running his thumb over her bottom lip. For a second he lost sense of where they were when her eyes grew dark and her lashes fluttered gently over her skin. She looked so beautiful, and that protective urge— or maybe he should just call it what is is…lust—overtook him. He couldn’t picture her with anyone but him. Fuck. He didn’t want her with anyone else. Screw Nick. He’d deal with him later.

If anyone would teach Allison how to please a man, let a real man do the job.

Him.

She was ready, so was he. He was willing, and so was she. And they were both adults.

“Al, I don’t want you with any of these men.”

She sighed, sagging against him. “Are we really going to have this conversation again? I—”

He took her mouth in a hard kiss, parting the seam of her lips with his tongue and thrusting inside, swallowing her gasp. She melted against him. He slid his hands down her throat, past her shoulders, and lower still until he curved his arm around her back and squeezed her rear. She smiled into their kiss, and this time he melted.

“Do I need to rephrase?” he whispered against her mouth.

She shook her head, their mouths still touching. “I really only wanted one man in this room, but I didn’t think he wanted—”

“You better be talking about me.” He leaned back just far enough so he could watch the way her emotions flickered across her eyes. Excitement. Uncertainty. Acceptance. She nodded, her lips parted and moist.

“Are you telling me—?”

“I’m telling you I’ve come to my senses. Or lost them completely.”

Okay, love that last line!

Author Bio ~

Christine Warner is living her dream in Michigan along with her family, three laptops (she might have a slight addiction, or maybe it’s a fear of one imploding from overuse) and a much loved assortment of furry friends.

Besides laughing and a good round of humor, she enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, reading, writing but no arithmetic. A confessed people watcher, she finds inspiration for her stories in everyday activities. She loves to read and write about strong heroes and determined, sometimes sassy heroines.

Tina Gayle’s #EggcerptExchange and #99cent sale on Marketing Exec’s Widow

I've got another awesome eggcerpt for you today, but first, let's find out a little bit about the book it comes from...

Blurb ~

Four women...
One fatal car wreck...
Everyone's lives changed...

Letting go and rebuilding a life comes at a price.

Having come to terms with losing her husband, Jennifer is ready to move on with her life, but she faces opposition from her friends, in-laws, and brother-in-law, who see himself as her future husband. None of them know of Jen’s marital problems and she is afraid of their reaction when they learn she has a date for Friday night?
Hagan Chaney is not anything like Craig. He tempts Jen into the future but is she willing to give love another chance after the heartache she faced the 1st time around.

Eggcerpt ~

“God, you must think I’m awful.”

“Not even in the ballpark as to what I think about you. Because I know you would never have said yes to a night out with me if you’d been happy in your marriage.”

His words hit her like a fist to the face and her head snapped backward, striking the wooden partition between the booths. Wow, how could he have guessed the truth when so many people who knew her hadn’t?

She closed her eyes and searched for an answer. For so long, she’d kept her emotions bottled inside, not allowing anyone to see the loneliness or heartache her unhappy marriage had caused. What now? Lie, or admit the truth?

The vinyl cushion squeaked, and a hand touched her shoulder, pulling her from her stupor. Hagan slipped in beside her, his thigh bumped hers and his arm slid along the back of the seat. In the space of a few seconds, his large athletic body blocked her escape from the confining booth.

Nerves pulsed in an agitated rhythm. She couldn’t sit still, and opened her mouth to tell him to back off, but the thin lines of concern marring his brow killed the comment.

“Hey, there’s no reason to get upset.” He cupped a hand over her shoulder and drew her close. “I’m happy you said yes.”

Jolted by his sudden nearness, she exhaled, and then fought to draw air back into her lungs. His crisp, masculine scent acted like a seductive lure, and she had to fight the urge to bury her nose in the curve of his neck.

Is Lexi willing to risk her own life to seek the truth?

Money, status, and power. Some people will do anything to get it, others will do whatever it takes to keep it.

Eggcerpt ~

He pushed her hard and she slammed into the wall of the building, the rugged bricks cutting her palms as she tried to protect herself from the impact. This couldn’t be the end. She turned to face her attacker. She didn’t recognise him. In the darkness she could just make out his features. He had a face that could easily get lost in a crowd, olive skin, a freckle beside his eye, and brown hair. It’s funny the details you notice when you face your killer.

“I’ll give you whatever you want, please, take my keys, my wallet, there’s two hundred dollars in there, just don’t hurt me, please,” Lexi pleaded as he pushed her against the wall.

He stared at her. No smile. No reaction. Then she noticed the glimmer of a gun in his hand.

He pushed even closer until she felt his lips against her ear. “You’ve been asking too many questions.”

Lexi squeezed her eyes shut and pushed him away with all the strength that she could muster as pain seared through her body. She kicked him but he grabbed her by the neck and pulled her towards him pressing the cold metal barrel against the flesh of her lower back. This was it. She was about to die. And all for nothing. She wondered if Dana had known she was going to die at the exact moment her car had veered off the road and slammed into the tree.

~ Another Great #EggcerptExchange by Pamela S. Thibodeaux ~ from Tempered Hearts ~

I've got another wonderful eggcerpt for you from Pamela Thibodeaux, but first, let's hear a little bit about the book...

Blurb ~

Rancher Craig Harris and veterinarian Tamera Collins clash from the moment they meet. Innocence is pitted against arrogance as tempers rise and passions ignite to form a love as pure as the finest gold, fresh from the crucible and as strong as steel. Thrown together amid tragedy and unsated passion, Tamera and Craig share a strong attraction that neither accepts as the first stages of love. Torn between desire and dislike, they must make peace with their pasts and God in order to open up to the love blossoming between them. It is a love that nothing can destroy when they come to understand that only when hearts are tempered, minds are opened and wills are softened can man discern the will of God for his life.

Excerpt ~

Tamera awoke in a mild state of panic and confusion. Glancing around, she realized where she was and who was beside her. A blush warmed her cheeks as she struggled to sit up. She released the filly and fumbled with the front of her gown.

“I couldn’t sleep.” she explained, glancing into the steel gray eyes. His gaze, soft and warm like liquid metal, made her blush harder as he brushed strands of hay out of her hair with a gentleness that seemed out of character.

Craig knew he was treading on dangerous ground, that people were expecting them, but couldn’t seem to get past the moment at hand. “I guess a kiss is out of the question,” he queried, his voice tender, gaze unwavering.

Emotions, raw and unfamiliar, shivered through her. Tamera attempted to scoot away from him, emitted a shaky little laugh and tried to quench the feelings escalating to frightening proportions. “A kiss? Why would you want a kiss? I didn’t think you even liked me.”

Craig wound his hand in her thick hair, stopping her movements. “Like has nothing to do with desire,” he moaned and crushed her to him as his mouth covered hers in a thorough kiss. “Absolutely nothing,” he assured as she clung to his shirt and trembled in his arms.
